If you're wondering how you can help the refugees here in America to feel more welcomed and to get better acclimated with American culture, here's how:
1.
Teach them English - Language is one of the biggest challenges refugees
here in America face. Without knowing the language, it is very difficult
for them to express themselves...in turn this can lead to isolation and a
lot of frustration. Even 1-2 hours a week can make a huge difference...not to mention the added bonus of a lifetime friendship.
2. Reach out to your local Refugee Resettlement Agency -The agencies can always use donations and volunteers are extremely helpful and needed. The refugees are
grateful for any and all donations....so if you see that extra blanket in your house that you haven't touched in awhile, someone else could definitely use it!

3. Introduce them to American culture - Get them out of the house, show them the parks, take them ice skating, to a movie, or simply welcome them into your home. Getting them out of the house will help them to feel more confident and get them more familiar with their surroundings.
4.
Welcome Them! Many refugees may be feeling more than a little uneasy
right now. They came from a country in which they weren't welcomed and now they may be feeling the same way. Go the extra mile to make them feel comfortable. The best thing you could ever do is to be their friend. A loyal, trusting, genuine friend! And not gonna lie....these people are cool. :)
